Basketball Hour Glass Passing Drill
The basketball hour glass drill is a good passing drill for all ages from the youngest all the way up to high school ages. The passing drill will improve footwork, hand-eye coordination as well as passing skills. This is a good warmup drill at the beginning of basketball practice.
Break the team into four lines as such with one basketball for the passing drill. See basketball drill diagram.
Begin with the ball in line a. Line a passes square to line b who then passes diagonally across the grid to line c. Line c then passes square to line d who passes diagonally back across to line a. The passes make an hourglass figure. After passing the player then jogs straight across to the other line. line a - line c and line b - line d.
Use different types of passes. Have the short passes be bounce passes while the diagonal passes be chest passes etc etc. Change directions....instead of starting with the ball in line a have it start with the ball in line b.
Focus on good passing. Also look at facing up and making the body square before passing and the footwork required to do it.
